From Restaurant Owner to Real Estate Agent

Welcome back to Project Badass Podcast. I'm sitting here today with Beth Staeckeler. She is a real estate agent with Christians Team Keller Williams and owner of Sled Haus in Lead.

Tell us a little bit about you, your business & what you do

I just completed my first year of real estate and sold almost 50 homes. Now I'm just going into my second year, really stretching those goals higher than I had anticipated and just still taking care of the restaurant, the Sled Haus. The Christian's Team is part of Keller Williams and we are all about win-win transactions. We're all about really helping your family. We want to make sure that everything runs smoothly. What I really love about our team is that I get to just be the agent. Our team prioritizes each member focusing on what they do best.

So tell me why real estate?

I just wanted to continue to be my own business owner. I always saw myself in sales and I love houses, so it has been a passion of mine. Wasn't sure where I wanted to go in the world of houses. Before I was getting my real estate license, I signed up for some interior designing classes and I realized that it wasn't what I wanted to do.

How did you transition from restaurant owner to real estate agent?

With the restaurant, my husband and I really had each other and with real estate, it was just me. So it was definitely learning a whole other skill, a whole new world, a whole new business. It needed to be done, especially once COVID hit, we realized that we had all of our eggs in one basket. I wanted to branch out and bring us a second stream of income.

What’s the biggest difference between running a restaurant compared to being a real estate agent?

You’re on your client's time no matter what. You’re working with people who are making a big decision in their life. Picking which burger you want isn’t that big of a decision, you'll move on if it's not good. In real estate, you're helping these people find their dream house, their forever house, their first investment property, whatever it is.
